PRO client reguliere expressies (regex)
Regular expressions are much more powerful way of matching files to be excluded from backup. Each expression you provide is always matched against the absolute path of the file, which allows taking the parent directory into account when you exclude files.
Note: CrashPlan always uses '/' as the file separator character.
Here's an example: Consider the absolute path: /Users/Peter/Documents/examples/regex.txt. You could exclude the file with:
| regex | description |
|---|---|
| .*\.txt | all text files in all directories will be excluded, case-sensitive |
| (?i).*\.txt | same as previous, case-insensitive |
| (?i).*/examples/.*\.txt | text files in examples folder are excluded, case-insensitive |
| (?i)/Users/Peter/.*\.txt | text files in Peter's home directory are excluded, case-insensitive |
| (?i)/Users/.*/examples/.*\.txt | text files contained in User's home directory within an examples folder are excluded, case-insensitive |

Settings > Security
On the "Security" page you can view and change your password. You can also make it so a user needs to log in and supply a password before using the "CrashPlan Desktop". For additional security you can secure your data (for restoring files) with a password that is different from your account password.
Security Options Summary
The table below outlines the three security options for private key management and their key points.
| Security Option | Key Points |
|---|---|
Secure with account password |
Default security |
| Unsecured key is stored on the server and on source machine | |
| Account password-secured key is stored on the destination for guest restore | |
| Allows admins to restore with account password | |
| No extra password to remember and least risk for restoring data | |
Secure with private password |
Upgraded security |
| Private password-secured encryption key is stored on the server for web restore and for new installations | |
| Secured key at destination for guest restore | |
| Unsecured encryption key exists only on source computer | |
| Admins need private password to restore | |
| Additional password to remember and increased risk of not being able to restore | |
Generate your own private key |
Highest upgraded security |
| Private key (unsecured) is stored on and never leaves source machine | |
| Manage your own private key per machine, with each computer under this account theoretically using a different private key | |
| Web restore, guest restore, new installations, remote restore, etc. require the private key | |
| Admins need private key to restore | |
| Impossible to remember, with increased risk of losing the private key (not being able to restore) |

History
The "History" tab provides a log of your backups and what CrashPlan is doing right now so that you know exactly what is happening with your backup.
CrashPlan sends messages if something is not working or to let you know your current status. For example, if you are trying to restore a file, and it does not complete, you will get a message at the bottom of the screen, such as:
- Cannot restore because destination is busy
- Active subscription required to restore
- Unable to restore because destination is offline
Waarschuwingen en alarmsignalen
CrashPlan will let you know if there is a problem with any of your backup destinations. If a backup cannot complete because a destination is offline, you will be warned about the situation. After CrashPlan has not been able to back up to that destination for five days (this is an interval that you can set), you will receive a red message alerting you to the situation. If you don’t have any warning or alert messages, you know that your backup is working.
Messages
Messages describe when the computer was last backed up, which destination was used for the backup, how many files were scanned and ready for backup, when files were changes, when settings were changed, when CrashPlan automatically upgrades to a new version, etc.
Warnings
Warning messages and alerts also appear on this screen. If the backup did not complete, the "History" page will tell you what happened.
